Spanish Riding School: The Miracle of the White Horse - vintage 1957, 16 minute film remastered

Regular price $22.95
This rare, vintage film was painstakingly restored by Xenophon Press in cooperation with the Lipizzan Association of North America, to provide a time capsule of the Spanish Riding School from 1957. Alois Podhajski was the director of the school at the time and he can be seen riding on most of the film. Included are highlights from the gala performances of Classical Horsemanship including, airs above the ground in-hand and under saddle, high school work, and the grand quadrille all filmed in the famed hall designed by Fischer von Erlach. Remarkable for the way that the horses, in real-time, appear to float in slow motion. The cadence and suspension are awe-inspiring. Likewise, the calm, unflappable unison of the riders in the quadrille is magical. You are sure to be transfixed as this film presents a different Spanish Riding School than what can be witnessed today in Vienna. English narrative with musical background. 15 minutes 24 seconds. DVD.
